Mike Press 2016 Shiraz. The Winefront Review.

Always jump at the chance to try Mike Press’s latest offering.

The long run continues. Once again we have superb value on offer here. The fruit is a svelte mix of red and black cherry, the oak is both vanillin and spicy, there’s a slip of anise and a burst of clove. Both the oak and fruit here have as much or more class than usual; this is the best release in a few years. A general smoky, cedary character positively pervades. It has all the hallmarks of Mike Press’s red wines but then, it seems just a touch more refined than previous. Not a bad thing, not a bad thing at all. If you have enjoyed Mike Press Shiraz in the past, you’re in for a bit of a treat with this one.
